You do get some gems within the stones when you write super fast without editing. It really surprised me. I just finished that novel draft at 93K words, and I know I need to trim it down, but what a huge accomplishment.Catherine Stinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08131569196977321229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704068707505574570.post-26361698614153825622011-05-07T02:30:11.343-05:002011-05-07T02:30:11.343-05:00You are so right about making the time to write! I think poets need a consistent voice through all their work, but novelists often need a distinct voice for each book and their own whispering sub-voice in all their work.DebraZnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704068707505574570.post-18994501017339095982011-05-06T09:43:48.842-05:002011-05-06T09:43:48.842-05:00I've heard and used the first 4 you posted. So fixing a sentence might not fix the problem. Another teacher advised poets to read all the poems they could and told fiction folks to just start writing. Interesting to contemplate the difference.DebraZnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704068707505574570.post-86603857542605452032011-05-06T09:38:54.975-05:002011-05-06T09:38:54.975-05:00Best advice I received was be yourself.
