Silly Sunday - Vampire Diaries Parody

I have three confessions to make: 1) I love The Vampire Diaries TV show more than life itself; 2) I want Ian Somerhalder to be my best friend; and 3) I don't plan to ever read the L.J. Smith books.

I know you're probably thinking "Best friend? Get real. I want Ian to be my luvah." Don't get me wrong. The man is smoking hot. I've loved him since his Young Americans days when he cavorted with Kate Bosworth and Katherine Moennig before they became famous. The fact is, though, that I have a beautiful husband already. Ian Somerhalder is not just a hottie actor, either. He's an altruistic soul who tweets endlessly about ethical treatment of animals and the planet. He's into saving the world in all of my favorite ways, and for that I want him to be my BFF.

But enough about arm candy. Let's talk TVD. I'll admit that my primary motivation for watching was one Mr. Somerhalder, but you know...also that whole hot vampire thing. This show, while mainly marketed to the teenaged set, also happens to be plain old effing good television. As much as my husband and family make fun of me, I can't get enough of it. Plot twists nearly every week that - GASP! - get resolved. It moves quickly, has plenty of humor, lots of heart, and more beautiful people than should legally be allowed on the same show.

I'm team Jerefelboncartymon. (Which is to say, JERemy, stEFan, ELena, BONnie, CARoline, TYler and daMON.)

You'd think, being the voracious reader that I am, that this would also mean I'd devour the L.J. Smith series on which the show is based. You'd be wrong. I'm such a huge fan of the show now that I'm afraid the books will never live up to my expectations. Have any of you read them? Tell me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, this was all a very big lead-in to a video I found via an Ian Somerhalder tweet (@iansomerhalder). It's a parody of TVD by The Hillywood Show. It's not quite as funny as I hoped for, since most of it is just one long music video, but the opening bit with the brothers is clever, complete with Stefan's endless rolling up of his shirtsleeves. They have the mannerisms down pat.

Two quick things

I wanted to share two other things with you guys today.

The first is that I was interviewed last Friday by Kimberly Sabatini at Jess Free Falcon! Kim is an amazing person, who just sold her first book, and took a lot of time to get to know me, all for the benefit of her readers. Flattered? C'est moi. I'm back! With giveaway!

I'm finally back from vacation! This feels weird. I haven't been on Blogger in almost two weeks. That's crazy! I did a lot of blog reading while I was away on my phone, but refused to even touch a computer until today. A break is a break is a break.

But I'm back, bitches nice readers. Did you miss me? I missed you.

Some of my Twitter followers got to see glimpses of my trip, but if you aren't a follower (And why not? Come find me! @loganturner) or aren't on Twitter *cough*Small Review*cough*, then here are a few quick pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I have a thing for sparkly headwear, and I had some serious Mickey ear lust happening for all of the shiny goodness happening all over Magic Kingdom. We were with our friends who were getting married that weekend, and the bride-to-be had the cutest white sequined ears. When I saw these red ones, it was like a match made in heaven. I wore them for the rest of the day without shame.

The wedding we attended was in Daytona Beach, Florida. This was our room balcony, where I spent most of Saturday reading Wicked Lovely while my husband was occupied with Best Man duties. It was pretty rough. Not.

We got back on Monday, and the rest of the week I've been relaxing, trying not to stress over school, and reading. I managed to finish Dark Lover and Leverage, and hope to knock out a couple more by the end of the weekend. For some reason, I have been reading really slowly over vacation, as if my mind is telling me to slow down and just enjoy myself.

I do have two pieces of good news today. The first is that today is the home opener for the Chicago Cubs! I'm watching the pre-game festivities as I write this. Go Cubbies!

The other good news is that I've decided to start hosting giveaways more frequently, starting today! Each month on the 1st, I will post a new giveaway announcement, and at the end of the month I'll announce the winner. The books will be through Book Depository so I can host these internationally, and will be two titles that I have given 5 star reviews.
