Follow Friday (1)
Thursday, December 16, 2010
Hopefully I'm not driving everyone crazy with the memes this week. Tomorrow I'm posting about life in other times and coming Monday is my review of Unearthly by Cynthia Hand.
For now, it's Follow Friday! Hosted by the always amazing Parajunkee's View, this is a chance to meet new blogger friends and grow our networks.
This week's question is "What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?"
Well, I graduated college with a BFA in Theatre Arts. I most definitely am not doing anything with that in my current job. In fact, ever since I graduated, I've been working in the legal field, even though I don't want to be a lawyer. Go figure. I'm currently in grad school finishing my MS in Public Service Management. I'm hoping to find a job in grant writing or something similar where I can use my writing and research skills.
I realize Wordpress complicates things because it doesn't allow the GFC widget. I would love it if my visitors would follow me on Twitter and add me to their RSS feeds instead! There are several RSS links through Feedburner on my sidebar. And I love comments!
Check out this week's featured blogger, Rabid Reads. She's got a great blog about urban fantasy and paranormal romance, and a fun new look designed by Parajunkee. And don't forget to check out the other Follow Friday participants!

A grant writer, huh? That is pretty cool! I just completely skipped college and ran into the "adult world" full steam ahead...lol! But I am like Peter Pan...I never grew up. hehehe!
Hey! Thanks for stopping by for today's #FF and checking out my new blog design. Have you read my featured blogger post yet at Parajunkee's View? I'm your newest follower via RSS. I appreciate the mention in your post. :) Happy weekend!

Thanks for the follow Carmel! I loved your post on PJV. Headed there now to check out some more posts...
Who knows if the grant writer thing will pan out, but I'd sure like to try. I can't ever decide what I want to do!
I follow you on Google Reader :)
Grant writing is interesting. I had to write a grant request and it was nerve wracking! Luckily we got the grant.
Happy Friday! I took a grant writing class in college, and looooved it, for some reason. Even though I didn't end up with an English degree, I still managed to take at least 1 or 2 English classes per semester. I just love English! and if my parents were willing to pay for an English degree, you know that's totally where I would have been. I also totally understand about having a job that's not quite what you want. I love where I'm living, don't get me wrong... There are just other jobs that I would prefer :)
I did not go to college, and I am currently retired. I worked for over 15 years in the secretarial division of Emery Air Freight in the 1960s and 1970s. I was a stay-at-home mom for the 1980s and 1990s, and now I am helping my daughter with her business, Tribute Books as the volunteer office manager.
Happy Friday!
Hope you have a great weekend!!
Romance Book Junkies
Thanks SR! I'm a follower of yours too. Congrats on writing a winning grant!
I don't know if I could have finished an English degree. I love reading, but I've never been a big fan of literary fiction. I much prefer books with excitement and imagination. Required reading is just never as fun. I didn't appreciate Michener's The Source until I read it for personal enjoyment instead of being required to read it for school. :P
Thanks for stopping by Danielle! You've got a great blog!
I hope the book business is treating you and your daughter well. The site looks great!
