Unless you've been living under a rock, you are probably aware that Book Expo America is happening this week. As much as I really, really wanted to go, between focusing on graduation and my relative newness as a book blogger, I decided to skip it this year and aim for next year. I was thrilled, however, to discover Armchair BEA, which brings the awesome book excitement straight to your armchair/home/sobbing-corner-of-Left-Outsville.
Today many of the participants are hosting giveaways, but for those of us who were late to the party (and perhaps a bit strapped from our own giveaways *ahem*), we're discussing the books we're excited about in 2011.
When I found out Ally Condie was going to be signing Crossed at BEA, I almost cried. I'm still depressed about missing this one. I want my grubby hands on this one so bad I could throw up from the anxious wanting and needing.
Mindy Kaling is my goddess. She is the funniest person alive. When I found out she was hosting a breakfast, I squealed. I love her, and I am very sad that I don't get to see her in person.
Though both of these books are threatening to buckle under the hype pressure, I still am anxious to read them. I am already super jealous of the peeps coming home with these in their luggage.
For those of you also not attending BEA, what books are you sad you're missing out on?

OMG I want Crossed and The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer so badly! That I know they'll be at BEA and I have no means to attend is oh so heartbreaking *sniff* Excited for Carrier of the Mark aswell!
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi are the two big ones that I'm frothing at the mouth for. I'm stalking anyone who snags an ARC for any teasing hints/thoughts about them!
Crossed is killing me too!!!
And Myra, I didn't know that Myra was going to be at BEA...I may just go crawl into a ball of depression now....j/k ;)
My Best of 2011 List
OMG, so much opportunity, so few roads there. But the link helps!
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling hits the nail in the BEA head with its title. I am so jealous of everyone who were able to go, glad we have an Armchair BEA to compensate for our non-attendance :D
Brush Up On Your Reading
@Brodie - Shatter Me is one I hadn't heard of until your post. Now I'm definitely adding it to my list!!
@Reading Angel - I know the Mara book is being discussed, but it didn't look like the author was doing any signings. Not that that makes me feel any better.
@Kittie - Absolutely!
@Nina - Whatever you do, don't go on Twitter. It's making me throw a pity party.
I love this day of Armchair BEA. I'm finding out about so many new books. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer has been on my list for awhile. I still need to read Matched!
Here are my favorites in 2011!
I want Carrier of the Mark and The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer too! :)
Armchair BEA: Best Books of 2011(so far)
Hmm...I'll have to look more into Mindy Kaling
I'm wishing I had my hands on a whole bunch of books from BEA, but laziness and bad memory are my friends here. This is my method: I can't remember who is attending BEA and what books are going to be available. I'm too lazy to look it up. So I'm not green with envy because I'm lost in my own mental haze of "Whaa?"
Until this Sunday's IMM, that is... Then I'll probably cry from jealousy. But! Then by Monday I'll forget all about it again.
Gosh, I can't imagine what I'll be like when I get old. I'll be like that guy from Memento with tattooed post-it notes all over my wrinkly old body. Ew. Sorry for that mental image.
I'm sad I'm missing out on The Faerie Ring! (And the list could go on and on...). So crazy jealous of everyone who's there right now.

I love to hear from my readers, so please don't hesitate to comment. Good or bad, inspired reflection or spontaneous babble - I love them all!
