TGIF at GReads! (6) & Weekly Recap

Friday, July 29, 2011

This Friday blog hop is run by Ginger at GReads! (who also created this beautiful button). Each week she posts a new question for us to ponder.

This week's question is:

Character Envy: If you could be one character from a book, who would you choose & why?

I was going to be very obvious and choose Claire Fraser from Outlander, but then I thought twice about it. I don't want to overtalk that book to death for fear that some of you will get sick of it. Sooooo.

I choose Sookie Stackhouse of the Southern Vampire mysteries (and now True Blood). She has a simple life (albeit occasionally complicated by life-threatening encounters with the paranormal) and can read people's minds. Sure, she thinks it's a hassle, but I would love to hear what people are thinking. Plus, everyone in her life is goodlooking and/or interesting. Sign me up!

What character would you choose to be?

My weekly recap is inspired by the phenomenally talented, kind and generous Small Review. If you are not already following her, you are really missing out. Also, have I mentioned how much I love Cool Text? They're the folks that allow me to make these cool (and simple) text buttons - for FREE!

I wouldn't mind being Sookie either and spending some quality time with Eric:) I think the mind reading thing would be fantastic in small doses, and she's figure out how to control it, so in that case it would be a fun power to have:)

Can I pick more than one? How about top 5?
1. Cammie Morgan from the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter-butt-kicking spy girls!
2. Jacky Faber from Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer-high seas adventures!
3. Evie from Paranormalcy and Supernaturally by Kiersten White-one word: Tasey.
4. Percy Jackson
5. Hermione Granger
I guess I just some mad fighting skills or magic! This was fun, I think I will have to join the meme next week.

Yes. Sookie is a great choice, mainly for all the good looking ppl in her life. :)

Ooh I was thinking I wouldn't be Sookie because of all the near-death experiences and pain she goes through but.. I'd totally put up with that for Alcide.. /swoon.

I have yet to read the Sookie (True Blood) books. I keep hearing how great they are, I might give them a try :)

Yeah, I'd like to be Sookie, but mostly book 4 Sookie, and leaving out Quinn. Blech.

@Jenny - Yeah, I think the control factor did it for me. If it was like What Women Want it would be annoying, but Sookie style is awesome.

@rockyriverteenlibrarian - Oooh good picks! I also enjoy magic and fighting skills. :) You should join us next week!

@Smash - Yes, that certainly doesn't hurt. :)

@Hannah - Alcide makes anything worth it.

@The Lovely Getaway - Yes yes yes! They're a lot of fun.

@Ruby - I haven't gotten past book 4 yet, so I don't know much about Quinn.
