In My Mailbox (7)

Monday, March 14, 2011

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme devoted to sharing the new books we've received, borrowed, or bought. For more information, visit IMM's fantastic host, The Story Siren. You can visit other blogs that are participating in this week’s IMM here.

Another vlog! Finally. I even fancied it up for you guys and put on LIP GLOSS. I may have actually brushed my hair as well. You're welcome.

What I didn't do was check my facts before speaking. I couldn't figure out how to add text to the frames that weren't titles, otherwise I would have supplemented my video with snarky comments. Like when I start blabbing about how The Luxe takes place in a private school (it doesn't), or when I lamely giggle at myself. Hardy freaking har, loser.

Ahhh, great books! I hope you enjoy Hex Hall and The Body Finder as much as I did. Thank you for the heads up on the sale of Wicked Lovely, too. For whatever reason, I've been holding out on reading it for quite some time, but now...it's on my Kindle. Yay!

Happy reading!

*sighs* I was really hoping to get A Game of Thrones done before the show premiers in April, but yeah, that probably won't happen.

And yay to avoiding hm to do fun vlogs! I think it is awesome when you love a book so much that you just have to get a hard copy!

I also took advantaged of Amazon's sale, but I haven't received my books yet. :(

Can't wait for your review on HH. I liked it!

Thanks for sharing Logan! Super fun.

@Stephanie - I'm so glad you got Wicked Lovely! I just started it today. Interesting. Let me know what you think.

@Sidne - Thanks for stopping by!

@Missie - I get my books lightning quick because of Amazon Prime. You do know you get it for free if you're a student right? So you should go sign up for that. Like now.

Oh, and that's the reason I started Game of Thrones! Ha! It's so looooong though. Wah. Whine whine whine.

@Diana - I know, I kept seeing mixed reviews, but the cover is so pretty that I decided even if I don't like the book I can always pet the cover. :)

@BookGeek - Hooray! My first stalker! j/k

@Chelsea - Right?! I'm always dinking around on my blog instead of studying. Glad I'm not the only one! And welcome!

TO ALL - My commenting is going to be limited this week because of finals but I promise I'll be back to harassing you soon enough. :D

Little hint on A Game of Thrones: it's loosely based on the historical "War of the Roses" in English history. And Martin has more moments that made me gasp than any author I've ever read (and that's about 50 yrs of reading). After an unconscionably long wait, the 5th volume is coming out now after brouhaha with publisher.

Waterfall!!! *love love love* The next book, Cascade, is coming out this June. I'm SO looking forward to it. :)

I really enjoyed The Vespertine, Hex Hall, Wicked Lovely, and The Body Finder. I liked Graceling, but had some issues with the end. I'm really curious to see what you think. :)

Dude...Graceling is amazinnnng! Really hope you love it. I actually have the complete Luxe series in HB (also bought as bargain books thru amazon) and have yet to read a single one, but I did love Bright Young Things(also by her) A LOT!

Game of Thrones...*sigh* I bought this on my Kindle as well...in Dec. :/ I wanted to read it before the show begins but doesn't look like it might happen. I might read it along with the show...

Great IMM!

Yay for Logan vlogs!! I am in love with your vlogs :) And your red bow. Vlogging for us is totally more important than silly homework! (but, seriously, good luck with your hw).

I managed to stop myself from actually clapping in glee when you held up Waterfall, but I couldn't help the stupid grin and I may have let out a slight squeak of joy. Luckily, I am alone and so I didn't embarrass myself.

Amazon bargain book sales are amazing! Oh gosh, no, I can't go look now. No, stop Small don't go! aaaahhh

Ok, ok, I've wrestled myself away from impulsively ordering a bunch of books, but I'm totally blaming YOU LOGAN for my almost lapse. If my fiance asks why a box of books arrived I'm telling him it's all your doing.

Because ya just had to go and post that you bought Hex Hall, huh? I want to own Hex Hall. I hope you enjoy it :) I think I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't like Archer. And four dollars for The Luxe?!?! The pretty cover alone is worth that!

But you really need to forget about your homework and just dedicate yourself to reading these books and writing reviews for them. Because I selfishly want to read your reviews. You know how I feel about questing and battling and nerdy fantasy stuff. Be still my heart. :)

Okay, numero uno - my vlogs are like 72 times nerdier than yours... I was in my slobby room, giggling about the sunlight on the damn covers of my books, and in a huge t-shirt with no makeup on!

Number two - The Demon King is flipping wonderful! I just did a WoW on the third book in that series like last week, I think? Anyways, it's totally high fantasy wonderfulness. Just amazing writing and awesome characters, and it's even a little freshy for a high fantasy. Love it!

Also, I pretty much love Graceling. Kristen Cashore is wonderful... I don't know if you've read the prequel to Graceling but it's called Fire and it's pretty fab as well. The next book, Bitterblue, comes out quite soon, I think?

Anyways, you got a great mailbox this week, I'm super jealous!

@DebraZ - Do you still have HBO? If not, it might be worth it to subscribe just for the few months that Game of Thrones is on. If the trailers are anything to go by, it's going to be amazing. Thanks for the tip!

@Tabitha - I've heard mixed things about Graceling. I'll let you know. :)

@Jess - That's the same reason I bought it. I meant to start earlier, since I know it's really long, but time got away from me. Still, I have a month, and vacation time coming up, so hopefully I'll get there. You can do it!

@Smalls - The Luxe cover is partially how I justified it! It's soooo pretty. And I totally thought of you when I got the fantasy books. I made sure to say "questing" during my vlog just for you. I promise I'll review all of these!

@Emma - Whatevs. Your vlog rocked. I hadn't even showered yet. And your WoW with that gorgeous Seven Realms cover is partly why I bought Demon King!! I was like, "Enough already. You have to start reading this." I'm glad there's another fantasy nerd in my life.

Small Review said...

Ah, questing. You know the way to my heart :) I want a book written with two characters that hate each other but then fall in love along their quest to get something sparkly. Possibly a headband. Somehow time travel should be there too. See, this is why I should never become an author.
