Top Ten Books Whose Titles Or Covers Made Me Buy It:

For me, it's all about covers. I rely on covers to communicate the tone, theme, or genre of a novel. If it grabs my eye and tells me it's exactly what I'm looking for at that moment, then I'm going to read it. Bonus points if it's purty. These are 10 books that got me interested because their covers promised a story or tone I was going to love.

1. Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel.

2. Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon.

3. Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan.

4. The Espressologist by Kristina Springer.

5. The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson.

6. Huntress by Malinda Lo.

7. The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell.

8. The Dark Divine by Bree Despain.

9. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.

10. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr.

What books have you read based on covers or titles?

Aaaagh! Am I the only person I know who hates The Name of the Star cover? Possibly.

The Espressologist looks intriguing ... and I have to agree with Missie, I hate The Name of the Star cover. Haha. :)

Wicked Lovely is on my list too! And lol at the Name of the Star cover hate. I'm on the fence about it myself.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer made my list too. I love the cover and the title makes the story sound interesting.

I should have added Carrier of the Mark! The cover/title combination is spectacular.

Oh I like those covers too! I also won Carrier! Whee! I get that cover in person!! :)

Carrier of the Mark's title got to me - and I read it and loved it immediately!

With The Dark Divine, it was both the cover and the title that had me highly intrigued.

The other covers you listed are fantastic as well, except I'm not such a big fan of The Name of the Star's cover (although I LOVED the story).

Glow's cover still and will always make me think she is puking in a toilet after a long night of drinking. Am I the only one who sees that??

I LOVE the cover for Dearly Departed, but I don't think the story is for me (I don't do zombie romance well).

I think I'm one of the few people who doesn't like the Mara Dyer cover.

Ooooh those are lovely covers. I don't often pick books based on covers anymore. Covers just seem to be getting better and better these days.

@Missie, Ingrid and Alexa - See, you're not the only ones that don't like Name of the Star. :) I can see why people don't like it, but it made me want to read it!

@Jenni - I love water covers. They're so pretty.

@Bekka - Total cover win.

@Melissa - I hope you like it. I bought a copy just for the cover. :)

@Alexa - Glad you liked Carrier. I've been reading some not-kind reviews.

@Small - I never would have come up with that on the Glow cover, but now it's all I see. THANKS. :P

@Alexis - I know what you mean. I have to stop drooling over every cover.

@Smash and Lah - Thanks!
